The assay should include a summary of the type of cancer, describing gender, age, geographical occurrence, statistics, current treatment; the paper that underlies the assay can be related to the identification of the genes associated to the chosen type of cancer, gene targets of drugs, databases of associated cancer genes and other aspects that relates the chosen type of cancer and gene target. Choice of paper will be approved by the course coordinator (Prof. Mozart).
Due date: to be determied, sent by e-mail to Prof. Mozart Marins. In the subject line should be written A2 “Name of Student”, example A2 Patrick.

Students will write a letter of application (LA) for a lab position highlighting how they have performed in the course and how the skills they have learned are important for them to be selected for the position (30% of this assignment); structured comment (SC) of their classmates assays in the blog Karkinos - GMB Cancer Notes Blog** (30% of this assignment, at least two comments should be uploaded to receive 10); attendance to the classes (AC)*** (20% of this assignment); ethics, discipline, participation in class (PC)(20% of this assignment)
* each of the assignments will be graded from 1 to 10 and final grade for the whole assignment will be the average of the four grades, each multiplied by its factor ((LA*3+SC*3+AC*2+PC*2)/10)
** a blog for publication of short assays written by students of academic courses maintained by the GMB group (research scientific group of Prof. Marins).
*** each absence will reduce 1 point of this assignment
